I think the teacher's unions would have agreed to allow the pension double-dipping. Of course, I can't say for sure, but I don't see why they wouldn't. They don't allow it normally because it would encourage teachers to retire even earlier and then come back to work, which would hurt the pension. But this is not a normal situation, so that risk isn't there.

It’s possible I created the scenario in my head.
